Janai Purnima is a festival for all Nepalese. This day people from Bhraman and Cheetri community change their “janai” (a scared thread ). Similarly people from other communities get tied a “Doro”(sacred colorful thread) around their wrest. One different tradition is followed by Newars. This day they feed frogs as well. People offer different food including rice and ”Kwati” (sprout soup) to frogs. People offer foods on leaf plates for frogs in their paddy fields and houses. According to historians people have been practicing such traditions as an honor to animals for maintaining ecosystem.
