Film Southasia 2017 kicked off

Film Southasia (FSA) is a documentary festival which is organized every two years. With the aim of popularizing documentary, FSA has been organized in the Kathmandu valley since 1997. In order to promote South Asian non-fiction filmmaking and to showcase the South Asian culture around the globe, the documentary carnival has multiple sections of screenings, discussions, and workshops throughout the South Asian subcontinent.



Like in the precedent years, FSA has come up with many documentaries along with numerous workshops this year as well. The biennial fete saw more than 300 films for screening among which 63 films will be screened.  45 documentaries were selected in the competitive section for the four-day-long program. For non-competitive section, 12 more films in the category ‘Documentaries of Dissent" and another six films under ‘Student Films' section will be screened. As an addition, five Pakistani short-films will also be screened.

The eleventh edition of the festival, FSA ’17, with the theme of ‘Documentary Bears Witness" kicked off from 2nd November.The tickets are priced Rs. 50 and are available at the screening venue, Yalamaya Kendra, Patan Dhoka. The four daylong events will end on 5th November.
