Bagh Bhairab Jatra this year

E-mail Print PDF

Bagh Bhairab is regarded as the guardian of Kirtipur and the locals call it Ajudeu, a grandfather god. Bhairab, the most terrifying and awful form of Shiva is the destroyer on one hand and the guardian on the other. The deity is worshiped  as the embodiment of prudence, knowledge, productivity and strength to resist all evils.

On the first day of Bhadra (Nepali Calendar), Bagh Bhariab Jatra is celebrated to pay homage towards the deity. Here are the photographs captured by Narayan Maharjan on 17 August 2017.
