Last day of Rato Machindranath Festival was celebrated on May 25, 2017. On this day black bejeweled vest (Bhoto) of Machindranath was displayed to the public from the Rato Machhindranath chariot at Jawalakhel, Patan, Nepal.

Both Hindu and Buddhist people of Newar community celebrate the Machhindranath chariot  festival, the longest fair in Kathmandu valley.

Rato Machindranath is also said as the 'god of rain' and people worship the Machindranath in hope of good rain to prevent drought during the rice plantation season.

The government had announced public holiday on May 25, 2017, for the Machindranath Bhoto Jatra this year.
